1 Who we are

CrewCV is a maritime CV-building app for seafarers, built and operated by Rino Casio, founder of MarinersLink.com (the “we”, “us”, or “our” in this policy). This policy explains what data the app handles and how. If you have questions, contact details are at the bottom of this page.

2 The information you enter

CrewCV lets you build a CV from information you type in: your name and contact details, date and place of birth, nationality, marital status, physical details, Philippine seafarer documents (SRN, SIRB / seaman’s book), passport and visa details, sea service records, certificates, education, shore-based experience, equipment experience, next-of-kin details, and an optional photo.

All of this is stored only on your own device, in the app’s local storage. It is not transmitted to us, and we have no ability to see, collect, or recover it. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, this information is permanently deleted from your device, so we recommend keeping a backup (see below).

3 Your photo

If you add a profile photo, it is read from your device, resized within the app, and stored locally alongside the rest of your CV. The photo is never uploaded to us or to any third party. The app requests access to your photos or files only at the moment you choose to add one.

4 Backup files

The app can export your CV as a backup file (.json) and import it again later. These files are created and read entirely on your device and through your device’s own storage and sharing tools. Where you choose to save or send a backup is under your control; we are not involved in and have no access to that process.

5 Advertising

The free version of CrewCV displays ads using Google AdMob, a Google service. To serve and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect and process limited information from your device, which can include:

• your device’s advertising identifier (Advertising ID);
• IP address and general (non-precise) location derived from it;
• device and app information, such as device type, operating system, and ad interactions.

This is handled by Google under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your CV data through ads, and your CV information is never shared with Google or with advertisers — the two are kept entirely separate.

You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device settings (for example, “Delete advertising ID” or “Opt out of Ads Personalization” under Android Settings → Privacy / Google → Ads). If you are in the EEA, the UK, or another region requiring it, the app will ask for your consent before serving personalized ads, and you can change that choice later.

6 Removing ads

CrewCV offers a one-time, in-app purchase that removes ads. This purchase is processed by Google Play Billing; we do not see or store your payment details. Google manages the transaction and shares with us only what is needed to confirm the purchase and restore it on your devices. Once ads are removed, the AdMob data collection described above no longer applies in the app.

7 Fonts

The app and this website use Google Fonts to display text. When fonts load, your device may contact Google’s font servers, which can involve your IP address as a normal part of any web request. No CV data is involved.

8 Children

CrewCV is intended for working seafarers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9 Security

Because your CV never leaves your device, the most important protection is the security of the device itself — a screen lock and keeping your phone’s software up to date. We recommend exporting a backup periodically so your CV is not lost if your device is.

10 Your choices

• Edit or delete your data at any time inside the app, including a “Clear everything” option.
• Control advertising through your device’s ad settings, as described in section 5.
• Remove ads entirely with the one-time purchase, as described in section 6.

11 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
